About Inspired By Her
Inspired By Her is the opening night feature event of the Orana Every Woman Festival — a one-night-only collaboration that brings together story, song and visual art to honour the women who came before us, the women we are now, and the women yet to come.
Through reimagined works by and about women, the evening weaves together local histories, contemporary voices and live performance into a powerful shared experience.
This is a multi-stage creative collaboration celebrating women’s stories through reimagined works by contemporary women artists. If you are interested in being one of these artists, read on.
Attention: Visual Creatives
An Expression of Interest: Part of the development of Inspired By Her is a creative program inviting women and gender-diverse people from across the Orana region to create new works inspired by the lives, voices, and stories of women from our region’s past.
Selected works will be curated by Erifili Davis and showcased as part of the Inspired By Her opening event featuring Eleanor Limprecht, Rachael Beck, and Erifili Davis and feature as a physical exhibition at the festival’s main venue and on the as a digital exhibition on festival website.
Special Event
Saturday 22 November 10:00am–10:45am
This intimate creative session with author Eleanor Limprecht will share how she approaches historical storytelling, how to work with fragments from the past, and how women’s voices can be lifted from silence into shared story.
This session will also discuss the Expression of Interest inviting Orana women to contribute visual works responding to local historical stories. The curated exhibit will be presented as part of the Inspired By Her opening night and remain on display for the week of the festival.into the beginning of the Inspired By Her journey.

Research & Inspiration
To support your creative development, we’ll host two online sessions — open to all Orana residents — designed to spark ideas and provide practical insights into researching and interpreting local women’s histories.

Online Author Talk: Eleanor Limprecht – Using historical events to inspire creative works.

Local History Talk: Dubbo & District Family History Society Inc. – Researching women’s stories, with a focus on lesser-known figures.
Participation in these sessions is optional but strongly encouraged for anyone submitting an EOI.

Stipend
Selected participants will receive a $200 artist stipend to help cover creative costs ($100 on selection, $100 on delivery of completed work).
Writers of five selected short pieces (up to 300 words) will receive $20 each.
